Assess your Body Type to choose the Best Weight Loss Program
Written by Jan Margrit on May 2, 2008 – 7:18 am -Maybe you’ve asked yourself this question. Why are there so many weight loss programs on the market? Isn’t loosing weight just a question of exercising more or eating less? Unfortunately there’s more to it than that and making the right choice of weight loss program gives you the best chance to succeed and see benefits from the program.
The first thing to do before embarking on a weight loss program is to match the right program to your own individual requirements and profile. Don’t just assume a well-presented weight loss program will match your body type or needs.
One thing all weight loss programs have in common is the amount of advertising time they devote to the weight loss you can achieve using the particular program. As far as I know though, no weight loss program starts off by matching itself to any particular segment of users.
The reason no matching takes place is probably quite simple. Targeting a weight loss product to a particular user group would effectively limit the audience the product can attract, which would mean fewer sales for the producers of these products.
In the rush to bring new programs to what is an extremely competitive market, addressing the individual needs of people looking to lose weight tends to get put on the back burner in favor of mass exposure. A weight loss program could well be highly effective for a certain type of person and less effective for somebody else, which is why choosing the right program is so important.
So how exactly do you choose the right program. It has to be better than trial and error as that would mean going on and off new weight loss programs every few days. This would only lead to frustration and frustration is the number one reason people fail in their weight loss attempts.
Starting a weight loss program means making a commitment. A commitment to stick to the program, to reduce or eliminate certain foods, to make life style changes necessary for the weight loss to happen. Making a commitment to a program which isn’t right for you is far more difficult to achieve.
Making the right decision about a weight loss program shouldn’t involve a huge amount of research or rely on everybody being a weight loss expert. Making the right choice should be a simple procedure, without the need to make complicated decisions.
The main points you should consider for your decision are:
1. Calculating your Body Mass Index
2. Setting a realistic weight loss goal
3. Determining your time scale for weight loss
Basing your choice of weight loss program on these 3 simple rules should enable you to choose the program best suited to you and one that will give you the best chance of succeeding in your weight loss goals.
